I'm having a Gnostic day.

The Fall of Sophia

The sun trembled.
The sky trumpeted.
Cherubim and seraphim

bellowed like bulls
through throats of brass. Down
she plummeted, a twist of lightning

scorching the wind---
Eve-as-Icarus, slick with wax,
vanishing under wavetops.

Satan watched her
scissor into the world,
earthing herself

in Adam's rib.

Wonderful overlay of plummeting Eve, Icarus slick, and rib-less Adam. A powerful triptych displayed.

Why did you rearrange the lines? At the shorter length, they made a nice diptych with "Icon."

I'm still tinkering with it!
